If you are a new player did you read the requirements?
If you are an old player, did you read the threads about this that have been on here for oh... months?

Notice that: "upgrade your computer" "my cousin got a 4 year-old computer that works fine" "get a job" "if you can spend 15/month you can afford 400 for a rig"
are not acceptable answers.
You can buy a compatable graphics card off eBay for ú20, but I suspect that wouldn't be an acceptable answer either.

Graphics are just numbers that your computer visualize, and yes they do add to lag.
No, they don't[0].
Lag refers to the latency of the network connection (and associated infrastructure) between your PC and the data centre. This is sometimes expressed as round trip time or "ping"[1].
Now, your PC might struggle to render all the information that it is being asked too and this might manifest as a low frame rate, but your graphics card being ****e does not mean that your latency is increasing[2].
[0] How fast your CPU and/or GPU can do some sums has no relation whatsoever to the latency of your network connection. [1] I have a degree in computer networks and have played games online since Quake - I know just a little bit about network latency. [2] Just spend ú20 on eBay and stop winging, seriously.

Is it THAT hard to understand?
No, but it *IS* that expensive.

When I signed, wasnt told about this. Now my choices are:
No but you said you have 8 months left from a year's subscription.
Where have you been for the last 4 months when there were dev blogs and forum posts aplenty about this?

- A) Spend $300 or more on a new rig (and you mustnt suppose we all CAN spend that amount) Quote:
You COULD do that I guess.
Or you could spend $40 on eBay and get a compatable graphics card.
Quote:
Whatever choice, I lose some money. And Im not the only one as you see the forums is "spammed" with people getting same issues.
I don't see it being spammed - I just see people that either haven't read all the forum posts and dev blogs from the last few months or are intentionally trolling about $400 upgrades when they have been told *several times* that a $40 graphics card from eBay will suffice.

And we are not in 1980s computers. My own one is from 2004.
Five years is a LONG time in computer technology.
Quote: It's called logic.
Why don't you offer to sponsor the development then and pay the salaries of the additional developers that they need to retain to develop the different clients?
That seems logical to me, whereas CCP spending that money to prop up a minority of the player base doesn't.

Well i guesss they don't need the $$ or players like they used to...
That's a fallacy.
You are assuming they don't need the money so they are doing this intentionally to **** off players.
Ever considered that they DO need the money, and it's more cost effective to drop support for the old client and refocus those developers onto other parts of the game and improving the game experience for the VAST MAJORITY of gamers who this change will not affect?

To force people to upgrade is in my opinion bad for business. because of my own personal situation I can't afford to upgrade my computer...
Dude, it's $25 for a compatible graphics card.
Most folk spend that on a round in the pub or a takeaway on a Friday night.
Quote: For those of you putting people down because they can't afford ... only shows your inmaturity and stupidity....
It seems to be people going "omg omg wtfz0rz CCP suck making me spend $400 wtf wtf emorage!!!111one" and so on.
If people *really* can't afford the $25 for a compatible graphics card off eBay then I'm sorry, but perhaps they should worry about putting food on the table and paying their bills, rather than an Eve subscription and internet access each month.
Call my heartless if you want, but it's a case of getting your priorities straight.

**** U BOTH I had to spend ú17.50 of REAL money on a graphics card for my old pc.
A whole seventeen pounds fifty to continue playing your hobby?
That's what, a round of drinks down the pub with your mates or the cost of a chinese takeaway for you and the missus?
Get some perspective, seriously,
And if ú17.50 is so much money that it's going to break the bank, I'd worry about paying the rent and putting food on the table before paying for your internet access to even play the game.
